Hugo  Layard Horsfall

Clinical Training Fellow

Hugo undertook his medical training at St George’s, University of London and a Bachelors in Neuroscience at Kings College London, graduating in 2018. He completed the Academic Foundation Program at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Professor Peter Hutchinson, before returning to London to start neurosurgical training at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2021. Hugo is a Senior Research Fellow at the Surgical Technology Group at Queen Square supervised by Mr Hani Marcus, and a neurosurgical registrar in London. 

Hugo has joined the Mrsic-Flogel Lab as a Clinical Doctoral Fellow in partnership with the Francis Crick Institute, where he is co-supervised by Professor Andreas Schaefer. Here, Hugo will study for his PhD investigating human microcircuits with Neuropixels in humans undergoing neurosurgery.
