Nikos  Zervogiannis

Research Assistant

Nikos graduated with a BSc in Neuroscience from the University of Sussex in 2023, where he completed his thesis in the Staras lab, investigating presynaptic functional heterogeneity in hippocampal synapses. During his degree, he undertook a placement year in the Hall lab, contributing to a neurovascular project examining the impact of inflammation and APOE4 genotype on SARS-CoV-2 infectivity. Nikos then pursued an MRes in Brain Sciences at University College London (UCL), working in the Browne Lab to study how cortical region manipulations influence escape behaviour in mice.

In 2025, Nikos joined the Duan Lab as a research assistant, where he supports research on neural circuits involved in economic decision-making. His work focuses on understanding how the brain computes expected value and transforms value-based choices into actions.
